Should I change the
ports on Server and Client ?
You can change the ports only in server mode.
When you are in 'Username' mode.
* When you are in 'Username' mode, it is enough to change
the ports only on server side.
* Port numbers of the server is broadcasted along with the
IP address to the client.
* Client receives this IP address and port numbers and connects
with the server.
* Port settings on the client side is ignored.
When you are using IP Address to connect.
* Now it is your duty to maintain same port settings on both
side.
* Since you can't change port settings on client side, shift
it to 'server' mode, change port numbers and shift it back
to client mode again.

I am inside a proxy
or Firewall.
When you run RemoteExplorer in 'Server'
mode, you should see a word 'Waiting...' near to all
the IP addresses listed. If you see the word 'Closed', this
indicates that your proxy or Firewall does not allow a server
to wait on these ports. Instead of
running a server here, you can run a CallBack client. Check
our beta page for more information on Call
back facility [Click
here].

I
have more than one IP listed. Which IP should be transmitted
to the client ?
If you are running RemoteExplorer server inside
a proxy,
it is advisable to use our 'Username'. If you
use the username, your gateway Internet IP is automatically
detected. RemoteExplorer 'Server' broadcasts the IP address
to the client through our servers. Now, if you have more than
one IP address, which IP address will the RemoteExplorer
server transmits? It should transmit the Internet IP address,
not your proxy IP address. [ Mostly starts with 192.168....
or 10.... ]. You can decide this by double clicking on
the Internet IP address. You should see a message <-Broadcast>
near to this IP address.
Now your client will receive this IP address.

When I use username,
how frequent is my server information updated on your server
?
Normally this happens once
in three hours. You can make manuall updates by clicking
'Connect' button on server. If you run another
server from a different IP address using the same username,
the latest information is updated on our server.
Ex: You run a server in location 'A' using username 'John'.
After few hours, you are in a different place 'B' from where
you want to connect the server 'A'. Now, if you mistakenly
run another server with the same username from location 'B',
information about your location 'A' is overwritten on our
servers with the information of 'B'. Since you are getting
computer 'B's information itself, you will get 'Dataport failed'.
It might take another 3 hours or less for the server 'A' to
update its information on our server again. Or, you have to
manually click 'Connect' button to do this.
You can always view the information on our servers related
to your username by clicking the "?"
button.

Is the connection
through your server ?
No. The connection is direct.
* When you are using IP address directly to connect a RemoteExplorer
'Server', we have no control or monitoring on your activity.
The connection is direct. You can even work on a private LAN
where there is no Internet connection.
* If you are using 'username', our server stores your
IP information and gives it to your client for making connection.
Once the connection is estabilished, we have no control or
monitoring on your activity.
